MathML

Abbreviation for Mathematical Markup Language

In short and in plain language

MathML is a language for maths formulas on web pages.

The formula is then in the code as text with a clear order.

A screen reader can read it out loud. It cannot read a formula that is only a picture without a description.

Definition
MathML is a W3C standard for marking up mathematical formulas as structured text. Depending on the software, screen readers can read such formulas aloud and let users explore them step by step. Formulas inserted as images, by contrast, remain inaccessible without alternative text.
