Accessibility with short distances

Some topics are resolved faster around the same table. We maintain dedicated location pages for eight towns in Lower Saxony and come in person for kickoffs, screen reader sessions and training — the rest of the collaboration runs efficiently and remotely.

Digital accessibility is a task that lends itself well to remote work, yet direct contact builds trust and speeds up decisions. That is why we combine both: personal proximity in our core regions around Hannover and Hildesheim, and a well-practised remote way of working for everyone further away. From our office in Söhlde we reach eight towns in Lower Saxony for workshops, audit support and coordination meetings without a long journey. The substance does not change: everywhere we test with the same method described in the WCAG 2.2 audit, and the legal basis remains the BFSG. The full picture of what we do is on the services page.

Distances refer to our office in Söhlde near Hildesheim. Beyond this core region we work remotely across Germany — audit, remediation and coordination all function fully online.

Our service area in Lower Saxony

Our office sits between Hildesheim, Salzgitter and Braunschweig. From there we reach the following towns for in-person meetings; every other region is supported remotely:

Proximity where it helps, remote where it is faster

As the capital of Lower Saxony, Hannover is our central point of reference: many companies, public bodies and agencies are based here, and a kickoff, a joint screen reader test or a training session is often best run directly on site. The short distance reduces coordination effort and makes it easy to meet at short notice. Hildesheim complements this focus to the south of the region and brings the surrounding area into play; smaller and medium-sized businesses in particular value having an approachable partner within easy reach. For everything that does not require a physical meeting, we work in a structured remote setup: findings, correction guidance and progress are shared digitally, and meetings take place by video call. As a result, you benefit from the same WCAG 2.2 methodology regardless of location, while in Hannover and Hildesheim you can additionally make use of personal proximity.

In-person meeting or video call?

Tell us where you are based and what is coming up. We will suggest the right route — an on-site kickoff in the region or a direct start by video call, at the same fixed price either way.

What regional support means in practice

Three formats genuinely benefit from being on site. First the kickoff: getting editors, developers and management around one table settles responsibilities in an hour instead of three rounds of email. Second the joint test: when we demonstrate a page with NVDA or VoiceOver, it becomes immediately tangible why a missing label is a real obstacle — more on the screen reader testing page. Third, training: editorial and development teams learn faster on their own project than on someone else's example, as described in the article on editorial training for accessible content. Everything else — automated scans, manual testing against the WCAG 2.2 criteria, remediation in code through accessible web development, producing the accessibility statement and ongoing BFSG monitoring — runs independently of location. Which industry focuses we cover is shown under accessibility by industry; our way of working is described in the references and on the about us page.

How we start in your region

Why accessibility matters regionally too

Accessibility is not a big-city topic. Around 7.8 million people with severe disabilities live in Germany (Federal Statistical Office, 2024), and the share of older people is above the national average in many districts of Lower Saxony. For a trade business in Hameln, a practice in Celle or a supplier in Salzgitter that means a share of local customers fails at an unusable form before any contact is made. Then there is the commercial side: anyone supplying public authorities in Braunschweig or Göttingen has to evidence EN 301 549 in the tender — see the article on accessibility in public procurement. And anyone supplying large corporations in Wolfsburg or Hannover often receives the requirement through the supply chain. The industry focuses behind all of this are shown under accessibility by industry.
